Project Spotlight: Pan Pacific Hotel Refurb

Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth was already a 5-star stay, but now it’s delivering even more luxury with a complete refurbishment – and the team at AJ Cochrane & Sons are thrilled to be part of the project.

5-Star Luxury, 5-Star Renovation

Originally built in 1973, the Pan Pacific Hotel has been regarded as one of the city’s most iconic hospitality destinations for many decades. Renowned for its warm service, fabulous dining options, and convenient location in the bustling Perth CBD, Pan Pacific Hotel has hosted some of the world’s biggest stars.

The $50 million refurbishment extends to all guest rooms and suites, including a luxurious redesign of the Presidential Suite. Situated on the 23rd floor, the space gives guests a stunning panoramic view of the city and Swan River.

Our Work in Stage 1

Led by Phil Burchill, the AJ Cochrane & Sons team was engaged to undertake interior painting in Stage 1 of the refurb works. Drawing on our extensive skills and industry experience as commercial painting contractors, we were able to overcome project challenges, devising solutions that enhanced our workflow and enabled us to complete our job within the agreed timeframe.

Completed work included:

  • Levels 10-23
  • 29 rooms per floor including single rooms, double rooms and corner suites
  • 390 rooms and bathrooms
  • Passageways
  • Lift lobbies on each floor

To achieve the highest quality finish, our team of 8 tradesmen plus apprentices undertook a range of painting skills and techniques.

  • Ceilings, walls, doors, and frames were all painted. Works included the preparation of surfaces and multiple coats of paint.
  • Door frames were stripped back to bare timber to remove multiple coats of previous paintwork. In addition, five coats of paint were applied to achieve the desired quality finish.
  • Environmentally friendly, low-VOC paints from the premium Dulux range were used for the entirety of the painting refurbishment.
  • Used plastic paint containers were recycled as part of the Dulux EnviroSolutions scheme. AJ Cochrane & Sons is the number one painting company for recycling according to Dulux Australia.
  • 8500L of painting material was applied to complete Stage 1 of the project.

Stage 2 Set To Begin

The next phase of the refurbishment includes the 96 Pacific Club rooms and suites, and AJ Cochrane & Sons is back on board to finish the job. We’re looking forward to continuing the next phase to complete the full renovation.

In addition to the rooms and lounge on the Pacific Club level, improvements are still being made to the lobby, meeting rooms, and convention-level ballrooms. Every design decision has kept the guest’s pleasure and comfort at the forefront, whilst blending the building’s Asian heritage with WA’s natural landscape.

With luxurious rooms and stunning views, the Pan Pacific Hotel is a popular stop for holidaymakers, leisure seekers, and business clients. As refurbishment works continue, you can still book a stay at the hotel and expect the highest level of service and accommodation in a newly refurbished room.
