Spectacular Living Room Renovations – Start with Planning!
Not sure where to start when it comes to your living room renovations? As professional house painters Perth based AJ Cochrane and Sons have you covered. Let’s get planning!
Start With Your Goals
It is always a good idea to get clear with your vision and goals going into a renovation. Start by asking yourself why you are wanting to renovate- do you need more space? Are there areas that need fixing? Do you want a whole new aesthetic?
Creating a mood board of colours, textures and looks is another great way to help bring your vision to life.
Get Organised With Logistics
When planning out your living room renovation, it’s important to look at what you need done, whose help you are going to need, and when you will be needing that help. Renovating comes with a series of events that need to take place at certain times for things to come together as they should. Here is our step-by-step planning guide to living room renovations.
Source your Interior Decorator, Designer, Architect, or Draftsman
Whichever you decide to use (if you do decide to use any), this is the time to source them. This process can vary greatly in time length depending on which service you need, how long their processes take, and if they have a waiting list.
Building
Again, this is dependent on the scope of your space, but your builder will usually come before the electrician and flooring and can take anywhere from a day to a week.
Electricals
Your electrical projects will take 1-5 days depending on what is needing to be done.
Flooring
For this stage, you will need to be out of the house and this can take 2-5 days depending on space and your choice of flooring.
Painting
This is where you will start to see everything come together nicely – well, if you get the right painter. Avoid a paint disaster by investing your time and money in sourcing a quality painter. This stage could take a day to a week depending on the scope of the job.
Blinds and Awnings
If you are looking for custom made, this could take up to a month so ordering them early in your renovation is key.
Stylist
If you didn’t opt for a decorator or designer at the beginning of your renovation and are now needing a bit of design assistance, an interior stylist is a great choice. They charge by the hour and can help you source the perfect pieces for the look you’re after.
